I write as President of the Independent Patriots for Change and Leader of the Official Opposition in Namibia.

Namibia is all we have. That conviction guides the work of this office: sound public finances, integrity in public life, and leadership that people can reach.

Statement on the foot-and-mouth disease outbreak

An office statement dated 6 October 2026 asks Government to publish a costed FMD recovery plan, the partner restrictions still in force, and a joint ministerial statement by 9 October 2026.

Statement congratulating Zambia and asking for a published results trail

An office statement dated 19 August 2026 congratulates President Hakainde Hichilema on the declared result of Zambia’s 13 August 2026 general election, and asks that concerns in the SADC observer preliminary findings be answered in public.

22 July 2026

Statement asking government to publish the Namibia Air feasibility study

An office statement dated 22 July 2026 reads the Government Gazette of 8 July 2026 as an Air Services Act application for seven Embraer jets, and asks that the feasibility study be published before the Transport Commission decides.

242,657 votes (29.4%) as an independent (IC).

2024 presidential election

284,106 votes for Itula Panduleni Filemon Bango (Independent Patriots for Change).

2024 National Assembly

20.21% of the National Assembly vote and 20 seats. The Independent Patriots for Change is the official opposition.

2020 regional and local elections

Namibia’s second-largest party after the 2020 regional and local authority elections, with 5 regional council seats and 66 local council seats.

About Dr Itula

Dr Panduleni Filemon Bango Itula is President of the Independent Patriots for Change and Leader of the Official Opposition in Namibia.

A dentist and oral surgeon, he was born in Windhoek on 2 August 1957. He trained in the United Kingdom, returned home in December 2013, and founded the Independent Patriots for Change on 2 August 2020.

In 2019 he received 242,657 votes as an independent presidential candidate. In 2024 he received 284,106 votes as the IPC presidential candidate.
