Statement asking for documents on the police Inspector-General process
An office statement dated Windhoek, 7 May 2026, records the 5 May announcement that Lt Gen Joseph Shikongo was suspended and Maj Gen Anne-Marie Nainda appointed acting Inspector-General, and asks that the supporting documents be placed on the public record.
The office PDF says the Presidency cited Article 32(4)(c)(bb) of the Constitution as authority for the acting appointment, for a period of one year. It says the Independent Patriots for Change does not, at this stage, take a position on whether the Inspector-General should remain in office.
What it asks for is the paper trail the statement says the Constitution and the Security Commission Act 18 of 2001 require: the Security Commission recommendation, minutes and attendance, written notice of grounds, representations considered, recusal record, and Public Service Commission advice on the terms of the suspension.
That is the office ask. This page does not decide whether those documents exist or whether the process was followed.
