Windhoek briefing opposes the Petroleum Amendment Bill
On 23 February 2026 Itula briefed the media in Windhoek. His published statement asks parliament to reject the Petroleum Amendment Bill.
The Namibian published the statement on 2 March 2026 and dated the briefing to Windhoek, 23 February 2026. The statement says the bill transfers petroleum licensing authority from the Ministry of Industries, Mines and Energy to the Presidency, and it asks members of parliament to reject the bill.
A separate Namibian report of the briefing quotes him asking parliament to reject the bill in full and records that he also called for a vote of no confidence. That is his position in the report. It is not a finding of this site.
Claims in the longer statement about identifiable private interests are not repeated here. Readers can open the published text and judge it beside the bill itself.
